Why use Lumagrip™?

Illuminated stair nosings have been available for many years using LEDs but they have always been bulky, complicated, high maintenance and expensive.
LumaGrip™ is set to change this with a range of illuminated inserts that replace existing infill in standard nosings.
LumaGrip™ also comes with the added benefits of having a higher antislip rating and a glare free illumination.
Standard illuminated nosings using LEDs have, due to their size, been limited to the front of the nosing on the face of the riser which means they can be seen only when going up the stairs. The LEDs have to be bright enough to illuminate the lower tread the resulting glare can prove visually distracting and possibly even a safety hazard.

Installation Instructions

After planning a wiring path follow the steps below; please note the wiring path will depend upon whether side or bottom connection has been requested.
Bottom connections will need to have a hole drilled in the aluminium or PVC channel for the connecting wires, please de-burr the aluminium to make sure the PVC wire sheath connections are not compromised when fitting as this could cause the LumaGrip or the power supply to short out.

1. Fit the aluminium or PVC heavy duty channel in place with suitable countersunk screw fixings.
2. Apply suitable double sided adhesive tape in the channel 50mm slot.
3. Tear off backing to expose the double sided adhesive and run a 3mm bead of a clear adhesive filler down each side.
4. Fit the LumaGrip into the channel and press down to make a good seal, walking on the product when in place helps to seal it.
5. Angled connections are supplied with excess LumaGrip and an indication of where the cut should be according to the measurements, adjust on site and cut with a chop saw as required.
   A sharp tungsten carbide blade should be used when cutting LumaGrip, cut slowly to avoid chipping on angles. DO NOT cut through the Light Tape within the LumaGrip as this will cause a short and cannot be resealed.
6. LumaGrip pieces with an angle cut at each end will require the wiring to be chased under the adjoining section, cut a suitable path for this on site. Extra wire is supplied for these pieces.
7. Wire the LumaGrip sections in parallel as the Light Tape Installation Guideline provided.
8. The power supplies are rated in square inches. SD150 drives between 60 to 150 square inches, SD400 drives between 150 to 400 square inches. LumaGrip is 20 square inches per metre, connect back to the individual power supplies as required.
9. IMPORTANT. Follow the set of instruction on the Smart Driver Operating Procedure supplied. The Smart Driver Power Supplies should not be switched on without the Light Tape (LumaGrip) attached.
